Giving In

Poetic Healing

Giving up
Giving out
No one has ever abandoned her
As deeply as she’s abandoned herself
A repeating cycle of projection
And expectation
In an effort to feel safe
An easy trap for an uncertain heart
Full of love and loss

The antidote,
To ditch these confines
And stop drifting aimlessly,
Far from the shore of her womanhood
And into the arms of the one within
Who loves her unconditionally
Giving in
Giving in

Pulled Down

Poetic Healing

In her struggle
She fights
Gasps for air
As she feels herself
Being pulled down
To where she does not know

But her fear is real
And what she can’t see
Is that in the depths
Is her salvation

And only from the bottom
Can she rise

Sanctuary

Poetic Healing

Photo by Greg Rakozy on Unsplash

For this feeling grows
The feeling that I am a galaxy
Embodied by the emptiness
Of a thousand dying stars
And the wholeness of one perfect life

The fulfillment of being alive
And awake to all others
While still residing at the center
Of my own celestial space

I am a Sanctuary

Disconnected

Poetic Healing

Photo by Annie Spratt on Unsplash

Though the trees have started budding,
Their green shoots peeking into a brightening world,
And the birds share their coupling refrains,
Some see it, but don’t feel it,
Reaching out a hand
Yet, like a mirage, once noticed,
It is gone

This budding, growing, singing
Unattainable,
Available only from a distance,
Save for those who truly live
And make their way
Through each day
Not disconnected

Enough

Poetic Healing

Photo by Viktor Talashuk on Unsplash

How does she know
When she’s had enough
When the old lies
No longer mend her soul
When a new way of being
Calls to her
Sweetly
Longingly
Over morning coffee
And evening contemplation
With a call so hypnotic
She can’t resist
It permeates her soul
And she knows it’s enough
